Former Hollywood power couple Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have officially settled their divorce, five months after their unexpected separation shocked fans worldwide.
Lopez, 55, and Affleck, 52, who tied the knot in 2022, will finalize their divorce on February 20, according to Daily Mail. The pair have agreed to retain the assets they individually acquired during their brief marriage. Additionally, the $61 million Beverly Hills mansion they purchased together will remain a part of the settlement, though specific details about the arrangement remain confidential.
Notably, the couple had no prenuptial agreement despite their combined net worth of $550 million, with Lopez contributing $400 million to the total.
The couple’s whirlwind love story has been a subject of fascination for years. They first got engaged in 2004 before calling it off, only to rekindle their romance nearly two decades later. The two married on July 16, 2022, in a small ceremony at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas, followed by a grander celebration at Affleck’s Savannah, Georgia estate a month later on August 20.
However, Lopez filed for divorce on the two-year anniversary of their Georgia wedding, citing April 26, 2024, as the official date of separation.
As part of the settlement, Affleck will retain his stake in Artists Equity, the production company he co-founded in 2022 with longtime collaborator Matt Damon. The company has been behind projects such as Air, The Accountant Part 2, and Unstoppable.
Meanwhile, Lopez continued her thriving career during their marriage, working on films and music projects including Shotgun Wedding, This Is Me… Now, and The Mother.
The divorce was mediated by celebrity attorney Laura Wasser, known as the “disso queen.” Lopez has also opted to drop “Affleck” from her name, reverting to Jennifer Lynn Lopez.
Despite the end of their marriage, the two stars remain amicable. Just one day before the Golden Globes, Lopez was spotted visiting Affleck’s home, where she appeared to share a warm moment with his 12-year-old son, Samuel. Lopez’s child, Emme, 16, was also seen leaving the property with a large gift, accompanied by Affleck.
Sources have confirmed that the former couple plans to maintain a relationship outside of romance. “They have every intention of continuing to be in each other’s lives,” a source told Page Six. “They communicate when it involves their kids and have a mutual respect for one another.”
Affleck shares three children—Violet, 19, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12—with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner. Lopez’s close relationship with Affleck’s children further underscores their commitment to remaining a blended family of sorts, even after divorce.
“They’re still close with each other’s children,” the source added. “While they don’t have a traditional co-parenting relationship, they still feel like a blended family in many ways.”
Last month, the pair were also seen exchanging gifts at Soho House in Los Angeles, fueling rumors of their ongoing connection.
For fans of the couple, their decision to part ways may mark the end of a romantic chapter, but their continued bond hints at a shared respect and enduring friendship.
They are not serious. they will still come together.
