In a joint effort with NAPTIP and the Ministry of Women Affairs, the Katsina State Government successfully rescued 13-year-old Rahama Sanusi from a suspected human trafficker. The girl was received by the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hadiza Yar’adua, on Tuesday, February 26, 2025, who reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fighting child trafficking and addressing the issue of out-of-school children.
Rahama had been under the care of her late mother’s sister in Kano before being trafficked to Benue State. Her father, Sanusi Ahmed, expressed gratitude to NAPTIP and the state government for their swift intervention, noting that he had tried multiple times to bring her back home before the abduction.
The authorities pledged to ensure justice for Rahama while reinforcing measures to safeguard vulnerable children in the state.
