The Kwara State Government has received 1,982 cartons of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) from UNICEF to address child malnutrition in the state.

The State Commissioner for Health, Amina El-Imam, received the supplies on behalf of the government and reiterated the administration’s commitment to improving child nutrition and reducing malnutrition-related deaths.

In a statement on Wednesday, Saad Hamdalat, the Press Secretary of the Ministry of Health, shared that the supplies were procured through Ariel Foods Nigeria, with funding from the UNICEF Child Nutrition Fund. This fund aims to provide life-saving nutrition commodities for vulnerable children.

El-Imam credited the state government’s $100,000 contribution to the UNICEF Child Nutrition Fund for enabling the procurement and delivery of the crucial supplies. She thanked Governor Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for the timely intervention, highlighting that this effort is part of the administration’s ongoing commitment to quality healthcare, especially for vulnerable populations.

The Commissioner also expressed gratitude to UNICEF for its continued support and to Ariel Foods Nigeria for ensuring the swift delivery of the RUTF. She assured that the ministry would work with relevant stakeholders to ensure the supplies reach children in need across the state.
