A Lagos Special Offences Court in Ikeja has convicted and sentenced Dennis Adeniran Adetoye to one year in prison for visa fraud. The defendant was arrested at the British Deputy High Commission’s office in Lagos after submitting forged documents, including fake invitation and introduction letters from Clarivate Analytics and a falsified bank statement. Investigations revealed that Adetoye falsely claimed to be the regional business lead for the company and sought to fast-track his UK visa application.

Adetoye pleaded guilty to charges of receiving property obtained through felony. During sentencing, he was given the option to pay a fine of one million naira or serve a one-year prison term for each count. The court also ordered him to submit an affidavit of good conduct.
