The Edo State Police Command has initiated a manhunt for a man named Wealth Nnamdi, who is accused of killing his pregnant fiancée, Osasu Isaac, and her three-year-old daughter, Miracle, in Benin City. The tragic incident occurred on Idiangbona Street in the Ovbiogoe Community, following a heated argument between the couple on March 16. Neighbors, familiar with the couple’s frequent quarrels, never imagined that this dispute would escalate into such violence.
A community source, who wished to remain anonymous, revealed that Nnamdi and Osasu had been together for over three years, with Nnamdi having moved in with Osasu and her daughter from a previous relationship. Their traditional wedding was scheduled for March 29, with the church ceremony planned for April 6.
“It’s devastating because she was looking forward to the wedding. She was pregnant with his child, and they had been living together. But on Sunday, they had a serious argument. We didn’t think much of it since they often fought,” the source shared. “After the argument seemed to calm down, we thought things were fine. But two days later, a foul smell started coming from their room, and that’s when we called the police.”
On Tuesday, Moses Yamu, the Police Public Relations Officer for Edo State, confirmed the incident. He said that officers from the Ekiadolor Division forced open the door after neighbors reported a strong, disturbing odor emanating from the apartment.
“The Edo State Police Command has launched an investigation into the gruesome murder of a woman known as ‘Mama Hallelujah’ and her three-year-old daughter, Miracle,” Yamu stated.
He continued, “On March 18, 2025, around 8:30 pm, the Ekiadolor Division received a report from a concerned neighbor about a strong odor from the deceased’s apartment. When officers arrived, they found the room locked from the outside. Upon forcing the door open, they discovered the decomposing bodies of the woman and her daughter. The woman had a severe head wound, likely caused by a machete, and her child was found lifeless on the bed.”
Yamu added that initial investigations point to Nnamdi as the primary suspect, as he has been missing since the bodies were discovered. “The suspect has gone into hiding, and we are doing everything we can to locate him and bring him to justice,” he concluded.
