Meta has fired 20 employees after an internal investigation revealed they leaked confidential information to the media. The terminations come shortly after comments made by CEO Mark Zuckerberg and other senior employees during internal meetings were published in news reports.
A Meta spokesperson confirmed the firings, reiterating the company’s strict policy against leaks: “We recently conducted an investigation that resulted in roughly 20 employees being terminated for sharing confidential information outside the company, and we expect there will be more.” The spokesperson emphasized the company’s commitment to preventing such breaches and taking action against leaks.
Zuckerberg, frustrated with the ongoing leaks, previously stated that due to the frequent internal disclosures, he would limit the information he shared with employees. Despite this, a series of leaks continued, including his own remarks about the situation. Meta’s chief technology officer, Andrew Bosworth, confirmed the company is “making progress on catching people responsible.”
