Spanish football veteran Sergio Ramos has officially joined Liga MX club Monterrey on a free transfer, signing a two-year contract with the Mexican side.
The 38-year-old defender, who left Sevilla at the end of the 2023-24 season, brings a wealth of experience to Monterrey, currently placed 10th in the league standings.
Ramos, Spain’s most-capped player, has chosen to wear the number 93 jersey—a tribute to his famous last-minute equalizer in the 2014 Champions League final when Real Madrid triumphed over Atlético Madrid.
Following his departure from Real Madrid in 2021, Ramos played two seasons at Paris Saint-Germain alongside stars like Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappé.
During his illustrious 16-year tenure at Madrid, he made 671 appearances, netted 101 goals, and provided 40 assists—an impressive record for a defender. He lifted four UEFA Champions League titles and claimed the FIFA Club World Cup four times.
As Spain’s former captain, Ramos earned 180 international caps and scored 23 goals, helping La Roja secure both the FIFA World Cup and two UEFA European Championship titles.
