Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has denied owing businesswoman Tracynither Ohiri N200 million for promotional materials she provided during his 2014 gubernatorial campaign.

Umahi addressed the allegation on Thursday during a tour of the Independence Bridge in Lagos, stating, “When I left office and became a minister, she started claiming that I owe her N200 million for 2014. The entire cost of my 2014 campaign didn’t even reach N100 million, so how could campaign materials alone cost N200 million?”

He challenged Ohiri to provide evidence of any contract, funds withdrawn, or bank statements supporting her claim. “Where’s the contract? Where did the money come from? Can you show proof of where you withdrew it? If you spent up to N150 million, can you publish your account details?”

Umahi suggested that Ohiri might be backed by others, claiming, “I think that woman is being sponsored. I saw her target three other governors. I initially thought it was a mental issue, but now it seems some people are using it against me.”

He confirmed that his lawyers would initiate legal action against Ohiri for damages.

Addressing allegations of sexual harassment, Umahi strongly denied them, expressing concern over the growing trend of false accusations. “Some people think accusing men of sexual harassment is a way to go. It’s unfortunate, and I urge women to stand against this trend,” he said. “We will use this case to teach a lesson.”
