Joseph Ikechebelu, acting vice-chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU), Awka, has approved the expulsion of Goddy-Mbakwe Precious, a 300-level student from the Department of History and International Studies, for assaulting Chukwudi Okoye, a lecturer at the university.
A memo (NAU/DIPR/72) dated February 14, signed by Njelita Louis, the acting head of information, public relations, and protocol, confirmed the decision following disciplinary proceedings. The university’s Students Disciplinary Committee (SDC) deemed the act as gross misconduct, violating regulation four of the institution’s disciplinary code.
As a result, Goddy-Mbakwe is required to vacate the university immediately and return any institutional property in her possession. The university management reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining discipline and a safe learning environment.
