Brazilian football icon Neymar has made the bold decision to give up $65 million of his remaining salary at Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal to return to his roots at Santos FC.
Al Hilal confirmed the mutual termination of Neymar Jr.’s contract, enabling the 32-year-old forward to reunite with the São Paulo-based team where his professional journey began. This move marks Neymar’s return to Brazil more than a decade after leaving Santos for FC Barcelona in 2013.
The decision comes after a challenging stint with Al Hilal, where injuries plagued Neymar’s time on the pitch, limiting him to just seven appearances and one goal since his arrival in 2023. Additionally, reports indicate that Neymar agreed to forgo $71 million in unpaid wages to finalize his transfer.
Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that Neymar is expected to travel to Brazil this week for medical examinations and will soon sign as the newest addition to Santos FC.
“Sometimes, going back home is the bravest move of all.”
