Niger govt calls for multi-stakeholder engagement to help at risk children

The Niger State At-Risk Children Programme, ARC-P, has emphasized the critical need for a multi-stakeholder approach in combating issues affecting at-risk children in the state.

The Head of Operations, ARC-P, Abdul Abdul representing the Team Lead, Aisha Umar Tafida stated this during a courtesy visit to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Minna Command.

He noted that the visit aimed to reinforce ARCP’s commitment to addressing the vulnerabilities faced by at-risk children, especially concerning substance abuse and related challenges while highlighting ARC-P’s ongoing initiatives.

Aside that, the head of operations said, “We are here in our bid to strengthen partnerships and foster collaboration”.

Responding, the NDLEA State Commander, Mr Shehu N. Gwadabawa, commended ARC-P’s efforts and reaffirmed their dedication to supporting interventions that create a safer environment for children.

The NDLEA Commander, also provided valuable insights into the agency’s efforts in supporting and rehabilitating minors affected by drug-related challenges.

The Commander detailed the NDLEA’s comprehensive approach, which includes awareness campaigns, counselling services, and rehabilitation programs tailored to minors, ensuring they receive holistic support to reintegrate into society also reiterated NDLEA’s willingness to partner with ARC-P to amplify their collective impact.

The two organizations then explored areas of synergy, which include awareness campaigns, rehabilitation programs, and preventive strategies targeting communities most affected by drug-related issues.

ARC-P is part of the federal government’s initiative to address the challenges of out-of-school children and socio-economic menaces.
