Nigerian Man Becomes 1st Man To Hike All 282 Munros In Scotland

A  Nigerian living in Scotland, David Solomon has become the first black man to have hiked all 282 Munros in Scotland. Munros are mountains above 3000ft in Scotland.

Solomon who was born and grew up in Nigeria, relocated to the United Kingdom to study 15 years ago and settled there afterwards achieved this record on Saturday, 10th of August from the journey he started in 2020.

The UK-based Cyber security analyst said he fell in love with hillwalking in Scotland after he bagged his first Munro. “I work during the week and spend most of my weekends hiking and roaming the hills with my dog JJ.”

“I decided I wanted to climb them all in 2020 during a challenging time of my life. The mountains provided a sort of relief and helped me mentally,” Solomon revealed.

Solomon’s first climbed Ben Lomond in 2020, a mountain situated on the eastern shore of Loch Lomond, it is the most southerly of the Munros. Since then, he has bagged many more including An Teallach, Beinn Alligin, Schiehallion among others.
Solomon will be setting a new record after climbing Buachaille Etive Mòr (Stob Dearg), also known as great herdsman of Etive, a mountain at the head of Glen Etive in the Highlands of Scotland. Its pyramidal shape, and one of the most recognizably mountains in Scotland.
