Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, on Thursday, swore in Mrs. Minnie Oseji as the new Head of Service, following the retirement of Mr. Reginald Bayoko. The ceremony, which took place at the Government House in Asaba, also saw the inauguration of Mr. Austin Igbine as Chairman of the Board of the Delta Printing and Publishing Company, the publisher of The Pointer newspaper.

In his speech, Governor Oborevwori reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring a safe and secure state, highlighting the progress made by security agencies in combating kidnapping and other violent crimes through proactive operations. He acknowledged the challenges but emphasized that the state’s security forces were making significant strides.

“As the Chief Security Officer of the state, I am aware of the numerous successes our security agencies have achieved in the fight against violent crimes, and we will continue to strengthen our partnership with them by providing necessary tools and resources,” he said. He also stressed that security is a shared responsibility, urging residents to support law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities.

The governor congratulated Oseji, praising her as a dedicated, brilliant, and thorough civil servant. He expressed confidence that she would bring her years of exceptional service to the role, addressing key issues within the civil service, such as absenteeism, lateness, and unethical practices.

Oborevwori called on civil servants to align with the government’s policy direction and prioritize public interest over personal gains. He stressed the importance of teamwork and synergy within the civil service to improve efficiency and discipline.

The governor also congratulated Igbine on his appointment and expressed hope that under his leadership, The Pointer would achieve new milestones in editorial quality, circulation, and digital operations.

In response, Oseji thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve and pledged to uphold the values of integrity and professionalism within the civil service. She assured that she would focus on reorienting the workforce and supporting the governor’s M.O.R.E. Agenda, ensuring that no one in the civil service is left behind.
