An off-duty policeman was shot and killed on Monday, February 24, while speaking with his girlfriend in the eMachobeni area of Inanda, north of Durban, South Africa. According to police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda, the constable was standing outside his girlfriend’s house when a VW Polo pulled up, and two men got out. The suspects spoke with the couple before ordering the girlfriend to walk away.
Moments later, the suspects allegedly shot the policeman and fled the scene, taking his service pistol and cellphone. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The motive for the shooting remains unclear, and authorities are continuing their investigation.
