Oluwo Of Iwo Accuses Ooni Of Ife Of Seeking His Downfall

The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has accused the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, of working against him despite allegedly playing a key role in securing the Ooni’s ascension to the throne in 2015.

Speaking at a Ramadan lecture in Iwo, the Oluwo claimed that he helped resolve a legal battle that could have hindered Ogunwusi’s appointment as Ooni, only to later face opposition from him. He alleged that the Ooni facilitated his suspension from the Osun State Council of Obas and had been using other monarchs to destabilize his rule.

“I secured his path to the throne before mine, yet he has been planning evil against me,” Oluwo stated.

He also accused the Ooni of attacking him over his stance against idol worship, claiming Ogunwusi had even used his former wife against him.

However, the Ooni’s palace dismissed the allegations, with his Director of Media, Chief Moses Olafare, stating that the monarch would not respond to the accusations.

“Ooni is focused on developmental projects and has no time for distractions,” Olafare said, adding that Oluwo’s claims were simply an attempt to seek attention.
