Members of the House of Representatives from Osun State have pledged their continued loyalty to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Governor Ademola Adeleke, distancing themselves from recent defection claims made by their colleague, Hon. Oluwole Oke.

In a statement released on Friday in Abuja, the eight lawmakers dismissed Oke’s claims that other PDP members were planning to leave the party with him. They described his defection as expected, citing his consistent public criticism of the PDP and Adeleke’s administration.

Calling his resignation an act of “ingratitude” to the party that helped build his political career, the lawmakers urged Oke to stop spreading false and malicious claims aimed at pleasing his new political allies.

“Oke’s defection is a personal choice and does not affect the unity or strength of the PDP in Osun,” the statement read. “We, the remaining eight members, remain fully committed to the party and its leadership.”

They praised Governor Adeleke’s leadership as inclusive, effective, and focused on delivering tangible results across Osun State — from education and healthcare to infrastructure and social welfare.

The caucus also reaffirmed Adeleke’s role as the undisputed leader of the party in the state, crediting his governance style with uniting the party and positioning it for future success.

Despite Oke’s departure, the lawmakers assured constituents that their commitment to their legislative duties and the PDP’s values remains strong. They urged party supporters across the state to stay focused and ignore political distractions.

“The PDP remains the most reliable platform for delivering the dividends of democracy in Osun and across Nigeria,” they stated.

The statement was jointly signed by Reps Bamidele Salam, Ajilesoro Taofeek, Mudashiru Alani, Akanni Ademola, Omirin Olusanya, Adewale Adebayo, Adetunji Olusoji, and Oladebo Omoleye.
