PDP Confirms Aziegbemi As Edo Leader

        Debo Ologunagba

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed that Tony Aziegbemi is the recognized head of its Caretaker Committee in Edo State.

This clarification follows growing internal disagreements, with some party members opposing the Aziegbemi-led committee.

In a statement released on Thursday by PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the party called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and the public to ignore any conflicting claims about the state chapter’s leadership.

“The NWC wishes to set the record straight regarding the leadership of the Edo State PDP,” the statement read. “For the avoidance of doubt, the state chapter is under the leadership of the Tony Aziegbemi-led Caretaker Committee.”

The NWC emphasized that the committee was officially established during its February 6, 2025, meeting, in accordance with the PDP Constitution (amended in 2017). The committee was given a 90-day mandate starting from that date to manage the party’s affairs in the state.

The party urged all stakeholders to recognize the legitimacy of the Aziegbemi-led committee and disregard any opposing narratives.
