Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate, and Alex Otti, the Governor of Abia State, have called for a meeting of the Labour Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), scheduled for Wednesday, April 9, 2025, in Abuja.
A joint notice from Obi and Otti stated that the NEC session will be followed by a town hall meeting with key stakeholders and party members at the Transcorp Hilton.
The notice, signed by Ibrahim Umar, spokesperson for the Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR), outlined the attendees, which include the Labour Party’s 2023 vice-presidential candidate, current and former senators, senatorial candidates from the 2023 election, members of the House of Representatives, and LP candidates from the last general election.
Also invited are members of the National Caretaker Committee, former governorship candidates who remain with the party, representatives from the NLC/TUC Political Commission, and all members of the former National Working Committee.
This meeting follows last week’s Supreme Court ruling that dissolved the Julius Abure-led National Working Committee.
