Yunusa Tanko, the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, has confirmed that former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, is still a member of the Labour Party, despite rumors suggesting otherwise. Tanko rejected claims that Obi has joined the Social Democratic Party, calling them baseless.

During an appearance on Channels Television’s Morning Brief on Monday, Tanko explained that the Labour Party leadership plans to address the recent Supreme Court ruling that removed Julius Abure as the party’s national chairman. He said, “A meeting will likely be held this week to clarify the party’s position, in line with the Supreme Court ruling, and that will put the matter to rest.”

Tanko emphasized that Obi has not left the Labour Party, stating, “As far as I am concerned, His Excellency Peter Obi is a member of the Labour Party, and that remains the case unless something else comes up.”

This statement comes after Adewole Adebayo, the former SDP presidential candidate, suggested that Obi and former PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, are in talks with the SDP about a potential defection.
