The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old member of an armed robbery syndicate involved in car theft. In a statement released on Saturday, the command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that the suspect was apprehended in the Ikotun area of Lagos through intelligence gathering.
According to Hundeyin, the syndicate operates by targeting vehicles in the Eastern part of Nigeria, then transporting them to Lagos for resale. During interrogation, the suspect admitted to receiving three Lexus 330 models and one 2017 Lexus 350 from an accomplice—a woman who is currently at large.
The suspect also led police operatives to the location where he had sold the stolen cars. Two vehicles, a silver Lexus 350 and a black Lexus 330, were recovered. Hundeyin stated that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining members of the syndicate and recover any other stolen vehicles.
