The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed a fire incident at the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC)-operated Trans Niger Delta Pipeline, located at the border between Kpor and Bodo communities on the night of Monday, March 17.

In a statement issued by SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the police spokesperson, it was reported that during a routine night patrol, security operatives noticed the fire and immediately alerted SPDC management. The company promptly activated safety protocols, including shutting down the affected pipeline.

Thanks to the swift response, the situation is now under control, and there is no further danger to residents or the environment.

The Rivers State Police Command has launched a thorough investigation into the cause of the fire. Two individuals have been taken into custody for questioning as part of the investigation to determine whether there was any sabotage involved. The Command is committed to identifying and bringing to justice those responsible for any criminal activities.
