A manhunt is underway for two men connected to an attack on a bus that led to the death of a young man in Wyndham Vale.
According to ABC News, 24-year-old Natan Mwanza died from stab wounds after being attacked on a bus then a nature strip by two assailants.
Police say the two men were last seen walking east along Vaughan Chase in Wyndham Vale.
Authorities are searching for two men behind an attack in Wyndham Vale that left a young Melbourne man dead.
It is believed Natan Mwanza, 24, was riding on a bus in Wyndham Vale when two men boarded and sat in front him, beginning a conversation.
“It’s led to an assault taking place and then it’s made its way outside the bus onto the nature strip,” Detective Inspector Dean Thomas said.
“Unfortunately, our victim has been stabbed and obviously assaulted and died as a result.”
One woman, who did not want to be named, said she saw the incident unfold.
“I saw three boys, one was lying on the floor and the others were just kicking him,” she said.
“I thought they were just playing … but then when I looked properly, I just saw a knife.”
The woman called triple-0 and, after the duo fled, she rendered assistance until emergency services arrived.
“After a few minutes they said they couldn’t do anything, he was gone,” she said.
“It was so awful. This is so terrible. This is very scary. This is a new area to me and for this to happen, it’s so scary.”
Natan Mwanza’s modelling agency described him as an “incredibly kind and gentle person”.
Natan Mwanza was from Werribee and worked as a model.
His agency, Priscillas, has paid tribute to him.
“We are devastated to hear about the loss of Natan, who was an incredibly kind and gentle person,” an agency spokesperson said.
“We send our condolences to Natan’s family.”
On social media, his sister said “you didn’t only take my brother but you took a part of me”.
Three men dressed in black tops and different coloured pants, one holding flowers, stand on a footpath beside a bus stop.
Police are unaware of the motive for the attack, or if the offenders knew the victim.
Detective Inspector Thomas said police had increased their local presence given the threat posed by the assailants.
“They are dangerous, given they’ve shown their propensity to commit this type of crime,” Detective Inspector Thomas said.
“We’ve been engaged with our local police out there in Wyndham Vale, they’ve got extra patrols in the area.”
The two offenders are believed to be males of Asian appearance, last seen walking east along Vaughan Chase in Wyndham Vale.
One of the attackers was wearing a white t-shirt, dark blue jeans and runners, while the other was in dark clothing similar to a puffer jacket.
The death comes just one month after the stabbing death of another 24-year-old man in Wyndham Vale, a short distance from Wednesday night’s incident.
