Police Inspector Dies From Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound In Ogun State

A police inspector, Ajele Oloyede, tragically passed away from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at a ceramics company in Igbesa, Ogun State, where he had been stationed as part of the security detail. The incident occurred when Oloyede, who was found resting his head on a table inside the security office, later succumbed to the gunshot wound.

According to the Ogun State police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, Inspector Tolorunloju Stephen discovered the scene when he returned from Ikeja around 1:20 p.m. After Oloyede assured Stephen that he was fine, Stephen briefly stepped away, and moments later, a gunshot was heard. Upon returning, Stephen found Oloyede lying in a pool of blood.

With the help of private security personnel, Oloyede was rushed to Ota General Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead by the doctor on duty. Police officers visited the scene, and Oloyede’s weapon was recovered. His body has been sent for autopsy while the police have started notifying his family.

The case is under investigation, with the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) taking over the case for further inquiry.
