The Ogun State Police Command has initiated an investigation into the death of Tosin Lawal, a 21-year-old pregnant woman, in the Ilaro area of the state. Lawal, who was nine months pregnant at the time, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2025.
According to the police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, Lawal suddenly began experiencing unusual heart palpitations, despite having no known health issues. A situation report from the Ilaro Division revealed that her husband, Akeem, rushed her to Ore-Ofe Specialist Hospital after she complained of a rapid heartbeat on the morning of March 10.
Upon arrival at the hospital around 3:30 p.m., the doctor on duty declared her dead on arrival. “The husband reported that Lawal told him her heart was racing, and she was pronounced dead shortly after being rushed to the hospital,” Odutola said.
Authorities have advised Akeem to transport his wife’s body to the State Hospital morgue for preservation and an autopsy. Coroner forms have been submitted as part of the ongoing investigation into the cause of her death.
