President Bola Tinubu has appointed Shamsedeen Babatunde Ogunjimi as the new Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), with his tenure set to begin on March 7, 2025, following the retirement of the incumbent, Oluwatoyin Madehin.
The appointment, announced in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy, follows a rigorous multi-stage selection process, including a written assessment, ICT proficiency test, and oral interview involving top Directors of Accounts across the Federal Civil Service.
President Tinubu emphasized his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and fiscal discipline, expressing confidence in Ogunjimi’s ability to enhance financial governance and ensure prudent management of public funds. This move aligns with the administration’s broader strategy to strengthen efficiency in public financial management.
