Princess Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, have welcomed their second child together—a baby girl named Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi.
Buckingham Palace announced the birth on Wednesday, January 29, revealing that Athena was born at 12:57 p.m. on January 22 at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London. She weighed four pounds and five ounces at birth.
“Their Majesties the King and Queen and other members of The Royal Family have all been informed and are delighted with the news,” the palace said in a statement.
Beatrice, the elder daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, expressed gratitude to the hospital staff for their “wonderful care.” The palace also confirmed that both mother and baby are “healthy and doing well.”
Beatrice and Mapelli Mozzi, a real estate manager, were married in a private ceremony at Windsor Castle in July 2020, attended by her grandparents, the late Queen Elizabeth II and the late Prince Philip.
Athena joins older sister Sienna, born in September 2021, and Wolfie, Mapelli Mozzi’s son from a previous relationship. Her middle name, Elizabeth, is a tribute to the late Queen—just like her sister Sienna, whose full name is Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi.
