Tuesday, March 18, the House of Representatives passed four tax reform bills that were submitted to the National Assembly in October 2024 for third reading.
The bills had already been reviewed and approved by the House Committee on Finance, which considered submissions from Nigerians before finalizing the drafts.
The proposed tax reforms have sparked considerable controversy, especially among Northern leaders, the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, and other interest groups, who have raised concerns over certain provisions. Despite these objections, the bills were passed, clearing the way for their final approval.
