The Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) Administrator, Dr. Dennis Otuaro, has urged ex-agitators under the PAP to remain peaceful and avoid being drawn into the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Otuaro cautioned beneficiaries against engaging in violent activities or allowing themselves to be used by individuals seeking to exploit the situation for personal or political gain.
“I appeal to all ex-agitators to resist any attempt to drag them into acts capable of destabilizing the Niger Delta,” Otuaro stated. “You are ambassadors of peace, and it is your responsibility to safeguard stability in the region for the well-being of its people and their livelihoods.”
He warned that certain groups might attempt to manipulate tensions in Rivers State to further their own agendas, urging ex-agitators to reject such temptations.
“The Niger Delta has suffered enough over the years. Let us not allow this situation to push the region into further crisis,” he added.
Otuaro also emphasized the importance of protecting critical infrastructure, urging ex-agitators and PAP beneficiaries to avoid any actions that could damage oil and gas facilities or other government assets in the region.
