Rivers Sole Administrator Swears In New SSG

                       Prof Ibibia Worika

The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), has urged the newly appointed Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibibia Worika, to leverage his extensive experience in governance to benefit the state.

Ibas made the remarks after swearing in Worika as the new SSG at the Executive Chambers of Government House on Wednesday. This follows the recent suspension of all political appointees and government office holders in the state, including the former SSG, Dr. Tammy Danagogo.

In a statement from the Government House Press Unit, the Administrator congratulated Worika, emphasizing that his appointment was not just an administrative decision, but a clear statement of intent. Ibas praised Worika’s expertise in law, policy, and international governance, which aligns with the mission to restore integrity, law, and public trust in Rivers State.

Ibas stated, “The task ahead is demanding, but your proven track record assures us that you will rise to the challenge. Rivers State needs your intellect, determination, and dedication. Together, we will create a new chapter of progress for this great state.”

He also stressed that Worika’s role will be key in driving the administration’s vision, ensuring that all policies, decisions, and actions align with the mandate to restore law and order, stabilize the political environment, and re-establish democratic institutions.

Referring to his previous address to the people of Rivers, where he highlighted his commitment to transparent, accountable, and service-driven governance, Ibas urged the new SSG to prepare for the challenges of the office.

“You must get to work immediately. There’s no time to waste. Our civil servants are crucial partners in making this administration function, and we must collaborate closely with them to ensure effective governance,” he added.

Ibas also called on the Permanent Secretaries and civil servants to support the administration in achieving its objectives during this critical period.
