Shettima presides over last NEC meeting for 2024

Vice President Kashim Shettima is currently presiding over the meeting of the National Economic Council at the State House, Abuja, which is the last one for the year 2024.
The meeting commenced at 11:30 am with a reasonable number of governors, including those of Cross River, Imo, and Gombe, among others, in attendance.
Some governors are also being represented by their deputies.
At the NEC meeting held in November, about three states failed to submit their recommendations for the creation of state police, a development that may also top discussions at today’s meeting.
The federating states and their governors will also receive presentations from members of President Bola Tinubu’s economic team, focusing on issues such as the tax reform bill and other economic matters related to the 2025 fiscal year.
Already, a number of states have been proactive in submitting their budgetary proposals to their state assemblies ahead of 2025.
