The wife of Anambra State Governor, Dr. Nonye Soludo, has congratulated 15-year-old painting prodigy Kanyeyachukwu Tagbo-Okeke for setting a Guinness World Record with his creation of the world’s largest handmade canvas.
Tagbo-Okeke, who lives with autism, achieved this historic feat when his artwork was unveiled at Eagle’s Square in Abuja on April 2. His painting, which measures 12,303 square meters, earned him a place in the world records, surpassing the previous record of 9,652 square meters.
Born in Amichi, Nnewi South Local Government Area, Kanyeyachukwu, affectionately known as “Kanye,” has gained international recognition for his artwork, which has been displayed in galleries and museums across Nigeria, America, Asia, Europe, and Africa. His works have attracted collectors and art enthusiasts globally.
The painting, titled “Impossibility is a Myth,” is designed to raise awareness about the challenges faced by children and adults with autism and special needs worldwide, while encouraging young people to strive for excellence.
In her congratulatory message released in Awka on Friday, Dr. Soludo described Kanyeyachukwu as a “definition of tenacity and resilience.” She commended his ability to overcome his condition and remain focused on his talent, calling his achievement an inspiration to children around the world facing difficulties.
She also praised him for bringing global recognition to Anambra State, highlighting that his accomplishment embodies the state’s values of excellence, creativity, and innovation.
Dr. Soludo urged other children in the state to be inspired by Kanyeyachukwu’s determination and strength.
Tagbo-Okeke is expected to meet with the governor’s wife to discuss his future and aspirations.
