Why I Back Tinubu’s State of Emergency in Rivers – Sowore

Activist Omoleye Sowore has shared why he supports President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s state of emergency declaration in Rivers State. On Tuesday, Tinubu declared the state of emergency and suspended all democratically elected officials in the region, a move that has sparked widespread condemnation across Nigeria. The following day, President Tinubu appointed Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas as the sole administrator of Rivers State.

Responding to the development, Sowore expressed that the ongoing chaos in Rivers State could ignite a nationwide call for revolution.

“To be clear, I am not here to defend godfather and son. I don’t care about them. I hope they destroy themselves,” Sowore stated during an interview on Channels Television on Thursday, March 20.

“I am happy because this might finally push Nigerians across the country to wake up. They have been too complicit, too complacent, driven by cowardice. This could compel Nigerians to finish the 30-day challenge and move towards a complete revolt. I’m not advocating for anarchy, but for justice,” he added.
