The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, and Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu, have both praised President Bola Tinubu on his 73rd birthday, which he celebrated on March 29, 2025.
In a congratulatory message issued on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Krishi, Abbas expressed that Nigeria is fortunate to have a committed democrat and patriot like President Tinubu leading the country at this critical point in its democratic journey. He described the president as one of the most experienced politicians to have held the presidential office, highlighting his success at both the state and federal levels.
Abbas commended President Tinubu for taking bold steps, including the removal of the fuel subsidy and other reforms, which are already yielding positive results for the country. He praised initiatives such as the Student Loan Scheme, the consumer credit scheme, local government autonomy, and the fixing of the Port Harcourt Refinery. Abbas emphasized that while the policies may have been initially painful, they are essential for the future of the country and are already showing signs of success, including a drop in food prices, strengthening of the naira, and improved security.
Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu also congratulated President Tinubu for his courage in making tough, but necessary, decisions to stabilize the economy, particularly the removal of the fuel subsidy, which he described as a deceptive drain on national resources. Kalu lauded Tinubu’s efforts in developing Nigeria’s regions through the creation of regional development commissions, aiming to foster infrastructure growth and social cohesion.
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, also paid tribute to President Tinubu, calling him the “Aare Ona Kankafo” of political and democratic struggles. He described the president as a bold reformer and a master of political consensus, emphasizing that the full impact of his leadership will be understood by Nigerians only in the years to come.
All three leaders expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership and the long-term positive impact of his policies on Nigeria’s development and prosperity.
