Sultan Advises Nigerians: Stop Insulting Leaders, Pray For Them

Stop insulting leaders. Pray for them - Sultans counsels Nigerians

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, has called on Nigerians to express their grievances to leaders without resorting to insults.

“It’s important to address issues with our leaders, but we should avoid using abusive language,” he stated. “If you insult your leader, how can you expect him to act on your behalf? But if you present your problems politely, I’m sure he will listen and take the necessary actions.”

Speaking after performing the two-unit Eid-el-Fitr prayer at Fakon Idi on Sunday, the Sultan urged Nigerians to pray for their leaders at all levels. “Pray for the President, Governors, local government chairmen, and lawmakers, so that God may guide and support them in fulfilling their duties. Continue to pray for peace, development, and prosperity in our states and the nation,” he said.

Sultan Sa’ad, who is also the President General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, congratulated Muslims for completing the 29 days of Ramadan fasting and encouraged them to uphold the virtues of the holy month in their daily lives. “Don’t return to your old ways after Ramadan,” he advised.

He also praised Islamic preachers for maintaining decorum during the Ramadan Tafsir and urged them to continue with the same standard in their future sermons.
