Team Nigeria Crashes Out of 2025 ITTF African Club Championships in Semi-Finals

Nigeria’s Canaan Queens have been eliminated from the 2025 International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) African Club Championships after a 0-3 defeat to Egypt’s PETROJET Women’s team in the semi-finals on Monday.

The Nigerian squad, led by Fatimo Bello, Janet Effiong, Cecilia Otu-Akpan, and Hope Udoaka, secured victories against club sides from Tunisia and Madagascar in the group stage. However, they suffered a 3-0 loss to defending champions Zamalek, finishing second in their group before bowing out in the semis.

The competition features eight women’s teams from Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria, Ethiopia, and Madagascar, with Zamalek and PETROJET set to battle for the title. In the men’s category, nine teams are competing, with Egypt’s ENPPI defending their title.

Meanwhile, attention now shifts to the ITTF African Cup, which kicks off Tuesday in Tunis.
