Tennessee High School Shooting Leaves Two Dead, Shooter Takes Own Life

Two students are dead, and another is injured following a tragic shooting at Antioch High School in Nashville, Tennessee, on Wednesday, January 22. Police report that the shooter, a 17-year-old male, opened fire in the school cafeteria, killing one female student and injuring another before turning the gun on himself, resulting in his death.

Authorities responded to the incident at 11:11 a.m. local time. In the wake of the shooting, the police urged parents to avoid the school and instead go to a designated hospital to reunite with their children. The district set up a phone line for families to call for information, although it remained extremely busy.

Aerial footage from CBS affiliate WTVF-TV showed a crowd outside the hospital, where some of the over 2,100 enrolled students were being taken for reunification. This incident comes less than two years after another devastating shooting in Nashville, where three children and three adults were killed at a private Christian elementary school.

Parents are advised to wait for updates as authorities continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack.
