Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly opened their Montecito mansion to friends escaping the devastating Los Angeles wildfires.
The fires, which ignited in southern California on Tuesday, January 7, have claimed at least 10 lives and forced over 100,000 Los Angeles residents to flee their homes. In response, the Duke and Duchess, living about 140 kilometers north of the impacted region, offered refuge to friends and loved ones in need.
According to People, the couple has provided shelter and is actively working with their Archewell Foundation to channel donations and support relief efforts. A spokesperson revealed they are collaborating with the organization to identify impactful ways to aid the affected community during this crisis.
The Sussexes purchased their $US14 million ($A23 million) Montecito home in 2020. Alongside opening their doors, they issued a public statement with advice for keeping pets and vulnerable residents safe during the disaster.
This act of generosity reflects their continued commitment to humanitarian efforts during challenging times.
