President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Prof. Anthony Adegbulugbe, Chancellor of Joseph Ayo Babalola University in Ikeji-Arakeji, Osun, on his 70th birthday. In a statement released on Wednesday by his spokesman, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the President praised Adegbulugbe for his remarkable contributions to academia, evangelism, business, and philanthropy.
President Tinubu reflected on their shared experiences, particularly recalling the moment in October 2019 when they both received honorary doctorates at Afe Babalola University in Ado-Ekiti, alongside the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Abubakar III, and the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Ugochukwu Achebe. He described it as an honor to stand beside such a distinguished intellectual, known for his dedication and humility.
The President also highlighted Adegbulugbe’s academic excellence, noting his 1976 graduation with a First-Class degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), where he achieved a perfect 5.0 GPA—an outstanding achievement that set him apart early in his career.
Tinubu expressed confidence in Adegbulugbe’s continued excellence and his ongoing contributions to Nigeria’s development. He wished the celebrant and his wife, Princess Afolake Adegbulugbe, many more years of good health and blessings.
