The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two Pakistani nationals, Roman Gull (19) and Aftab Ahmad (28), for allegedly leading a kidnapping gang in the state. The arrests followed a distress call on Wednesday, March 5, regarding the abduction of a 48-year-old Pakistani man in Ikeja.
According to police spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, an anti-crime patrol from the Ikeja Division was deployed, leading to the victim’s rescue and the arrest of the suspects. However, five other suspects, also Pakistani nationals, managed to escape.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects lured the victim to Lagos under the pretense of offering him a chef job. After arriving on February 28, 2025, the suspects overpowered the victim, tied him up, and demanded a ransom of N50 million from his employer in Kano. The victim’s boss paid N1 million to buy time and alerted the police, who later recovered the victim’s belongings, including cash, ATM cards, and identification documents.
Efforts are ongoing to capture the remaining suspects. The victim has been reunited with his family and is in good health.
