Two police officers were tragically killed during a gunfight with kidnappers on Tuesday night, February 25, 2025, along Little Rayfield Road in Jos, Plateau State. The kidnappers had attempted to abduct their victims when the police intervened.
The Plateau State Police Command confirmed the incident on Wednesday, stating that four kidnappers had been arrested in connection with the crime. The deceased officers, identified as Fatoyo Femi and Inspector Dafur Dashit, were part of a special team deployed from Abuja to assist in combating kidnapping activities in the state.
A statement from the police read: “Two of our officers, Fatoyo Femi and Inspector Dafur Dashit, who were on special duty in Jos, lost their lives during the exchange of gunfire with the suspected kidnappers.” The case is under investigation, and further updates will be provided.
Plateau State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, assured residents that the situation was under control and encouraged citizens to remain calm. He also provided emergency contact numbers for public use.
