Uniport Advances Excellence: 46 Senior Lecturers Promoted

The University of Port Harcourt has promoted 30 senior academics to the rank of professor and 16 others to associate professor. This was announced by the university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Owunari Georgewill, in a statement on Tuesday in Port Harcourt.

Prof. Georgewill highlighted that the promotions followed a thorough assessment process conducted by the university.

The promotions were approved during the 187th meeting of the Governing Council, led by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Sen. Mao Ohuabunwa.

A breakdown of the promotions shows that the Faculty of Science had seven new professors, the Faculty of Social Sciences had five, and the Faculty of Management Sciences also had five. Other faculties with new professors include the College of Health Sciences (five), Humanities (four), Engineering (three), and Pharmaceuticals (one).

In the Associate Professor category, the Faculty of Engineering had four new readers, Faculty of Science had three, Education had two, Humanities had two, and Agriculture had one. The Faculty of Social Sciences, Management Sciences, College of Health Sciences, and the School of Science Laboratory Technology each had one new associate professor.
