Valencia CF is eager to secure Nigerian striker Sadiq Umar on a permanent transfer after his impressive performances since joining the club.
Sadiq arrived at Valencia on loan from Real Sociedad in January and has quickly become a key player under manager Carlos Corberán, netting four goals in 10 appearances. His performance played a crucial role in Valencia’s stunning 2-1 victory over Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu, their first win there in 17 years.
Valencia is reportedly moving to make the deal permanent, with sources close to the club suggesting that they are keen to convince the striker to stay, even though they have an option to buy in the loan agreement.
A report from Spanish outlet Todofichajes revealed that Valencia is determined to convince Sadiq of the project before advancing with any formal negotiations with Real Sociedad. “The Nigerian striker has integrated well into Carlos Corberán’s tactical setup and has shown a more competitive edge in recent weeks, sparking the club’s interest in keeping him for next season,” the report stated.
“Despite the option to purchase included in the loan deal, Valencia feels it is essential to convince the player of the project before proceeding with any formal negotiations. The club’s sports management recognizes that Sadiq needs to feel valued and assured of his place in the team, something he has started to experience with his recent progression.
Beyond sporting matters, the club also aims to strengthen their personal relationship with Sadiq, offering him stability, playing time, and a supportive environment at Mestalla to help reignite his career. The technical staff highly values his physical presence and ability to break down defenses, a quality that is currently lacking in the squad.”
