Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has successfully completed his medicals ahead of a high-profile transfer to Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr.
Bayer Leverkusen has reportedly agreed to a €60 million deal for the 24-year-old forward, according to SkySport Germany. Boniface is set to earn an impressive €15 million net annually with the Riyadh-based club.
Al-Nassr’s pursuit of the Akure-born striker intensified in recent weeks, as the club sought a replacement for departing midfielder Anderson Talisca.
Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso confirmed on Tuesday that negotiations were advancing, with Boniface at the center of the discussions.
This transfer comes just a week after Boniface extended his contract with Bayer Leverkusen until 2026. Once finalized, he will become the second-most expensive player to leave the Bundesliga side, following Kai Havertz’s €80 million move to Chelsea in 2020.
Boniface will join an Al-Nassr squad featuring global stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane, and Aymeric Laporte.
The Nigerian striker initially signed with Leverkusen in July 2023 for €20.5 million and enjoyed a stellar debut
season. He scored 14 goals in 23 Bundesliga matches, playing a pivotal role in Leverkusen’s unbeaten title-winning campaign. His performances earned him the Bundesliga Rookie of the Year award, having claimed the monthly honor four times.
Despite being sidelined by a thigh injury since November, Boniface has still managed to net eight goals in 15 games this season for Leverkusen.
