We Won’t Let Enemies Disrupt Rivers’ Livelihood – Fubara

          FUBARA 2

Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has reassured residents that the ongoing political crisis will ultimately strengthen the state’s people rather than weaken them. He also warned against efforts to incite violence and disrupt livelihoods, vowing that such actions would not be tolerated.

Fubara made these remarks during a visit by Muslim leaders from 20 Islamic organizations, including the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, at his private residence in Port Harcourt for Eid-el-Fitri celebrations. The statement was issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, on Monday.

During his address, Fubara urged the delegation and his supporters to trust in God’s plan. “This season is about love, sharing, and sacrifice. Your prayers and support are greatly appreciated,” he said. “As Christians, we believe everything happens for a reason, and I firmly believe this situation is leading us to a greater purpose.”

Acknowledging the political tension causing distress, Fubara emphasized that there may be forces beyond human understanding at work. “We must remain steadfast, and in all things, we give glory to Almighty God. I believe in the end, we will emerge stronger,” he added.

Fubara reaffirmed his commitment to justice, equality, and an egalitarian society. “We stand on the side of truth and righteousness, even if it brings pain,” he stated. He expressed regret for not being able to engage formally with the Muslim community during the celebrations but promised that the relationship between religious groups and the government would be strengthened once the political crisis subsides.

Fubara also assured the Muslim leaders that their pending requests would be addressed after the situation stabilizes. He called for patience, quoting religious history, “If God could be patient with Noah to allow even the snail to enter the Ark, then patience remains an essential virtue in our struggle.”

He warned against attempts to instigate violence by provocative acts, urging his supporters and Rivers State residents to resist destabilizing elements. “We will not allow anyone to deny people their livelihoods. We will continue to operate peacefully and respect authority to ensure that our state remains a model for others,” he said.

Speaking on behalf of the Muslim community, Nasir Uhor expressed solidarity with Fubara, assuring him of their prayers and support as he faces the political crisis. He praised Fubara’s inclusive governance and noted that, unlike the previous administration, which declared Rivers a 100% Christian state, Fubara has acknowledged the state’s Christian majority while promoting inclusivity.

Uhor also called on President Bola Tinubu to reconsider the emergency rule in Rivers State and restore Fubara’s full authority, highlighting the governor’s effective leadership despite the ongoing crisis. Prayers were offered during the visit for Fubara, his family, the state, and the nation.
