YABATECH student shot d3ad by suspected cultists

A student of Yaba College of Technology, Lagos, was shot dead in a suspected cult-related attack on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, shortly after completing his exams.

Witnesses say the student was heading toward the back gate of the campus when armed men confronted him and shot him twice at close range. The incident caused panic among students, many of whom fled the scene.

Sources claim the attackers searched the victim’s bag after the shooting and found a gun and bullets, suggesting he may have also been armed. The attack is believed to be connected to an ongoing rivalry between cult groups on campus, with reports linking it to a previous shooting involving a rival member.

YABATECH spokesperson Adekunle Adams said the incident occurred outside the school premises and denied any cult-related activity within the institution.

Lagos Police spokesperson CSP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the killing, stating that seven suspects have been arrested, and an investigation is underway. Officers recovered live ammunition and charms from the deceased, who has been taken to the morgue for autopsy.
